About Scarlett

Hi! I’m Scarlett Senn: daughter of God, Air Force spouse, and mother of two young boys. I grew up in Hendersonville Tennessee, but have since lived all over the United States and most recently lived in Okinawa, Japan. It was there that I grew deeper in my faith, learned how to be a wife, and became a mother. Throughout our time in Okinawa, my husband and I had the privilege to learn and grow from other believers who opened their homes and utilized them as tools to help advance the Kingdom. I realized how hospitality is a mission and your home is a mission field. A home is not only a comforting space to retreat but also a gift from God to be utilized in His bigger plan. Deuteronomy 6 was brought to our attention as supporting scripture for family worship. Verses 5 through 9 reads: 

“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.”

In an effort to be obedient in this way, my husband and I decided we should hang scripture in our home not only to witness to those that enter but also to reinforce scripture in our lives and teach them to our children. There was only one problem, the styles and mediums of scripture art is so limited. It all follows a similar style and it often comes unframed which adds additional cost and time. Throughout our search we thought surely we can’t be the only ones with this problem and the idea for Doorposts and Gates was formed. 

The concept behind Doorposts and Gates is to provide affordable framed scripture for the modern Christian household and to contribute variety to this worthwhile mission. It is our hope that by providing more options for displaying scripture around your home, you might be in the Word daily and, through your home, more people may come to know the Lord .
